Cry Wolf is a track written about a break up that captures both the vulnerability, anger, and sadness that comes with the painful end of a relationship. The title and line "Cry wolf" in the song refers to the famous children's tale, "Peter in the Wolf" where young Peter while watching his sheep "cries wolf" to get out of doing his work. By the end of the story when a real wolf emerges from the woods, the villagers no longer believe Peter's cries and do not come to his aid. In the darkest version, he ends up being eaten. This story is a perfect metaphor to the emotional work that needs to be done in a relationship, sometimes we cry wolf over and over about past baggage wanting our partner to fix us instead of doing our own emotional work. In the end it usually comes back to haunt us and/or bring an end to the relationship. In the case of this particular song, a certain ex came back into the picture.
